Friends’ Meet with LHIN leadership:

Members of the Friends met with the  LHIN Leadership on June 23. Discussion focused on the five priorities the group has identified. (See below or letter to the LHIN of June 19 ¹⁾

We received a warm reception; our concerns evoked considerable discussion. This is just the beginning of a long process, and we believe that we are judged to be significant advocates for our Communities.

A letter requesting support for the Friends' priorities was sent to Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, and Durham Region Mayors, Chair, and Councillors on Aug. 21, 2006.  The main concern was the Central East LHIN’s first “Service Plan” – an initial blueprint for health services to follow- now under development. (see: Letter of Aug. 21, 2006¹⁾

M.P.P. Christine Elliott and M.P.P. Wayne Arthurs  received similar letters, also requesting their support.

We will report on the reactions of the Region and Municipalities when they have considered our requests.
